FARMINGTON, Conn. (AP) - Two Connecticut veterans of World War II are set to visit Washington, D.C.’s monuments and memorials honoring millions of service members.

Lou Kozikowski and Ray Guinta (GOON-tah) are to travel Saturday to tour the National World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The senior community in Farmington where they live says the 92-year-old Kozikowski served as a naval aviator and pursued submarines in the Atlantic Ocean in an airplane designed to search for and destroy submarines.

The 97-year-old Giunta saw action in major naval battles, including Midway, the Philippines and Okinawa.

The nonprofit organization, American Warrior, in Norwich is paying travel and other expenses for the two veterans.
