WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say they have arrested a man who offered a child money to leave a baseball field in Wilmington with him.

New Hanover County deputies said several people in the park tried to get into a fight with 55-year-old James Gallagher on Friday night, then he was stopped by officers as he tried to leave Ogden Park.

One child told investigators he ran to his grandmother after telling Gallagher he would not get in his vehicle.

Detective think Gallagher may have approached other children.

It wasn’t known if Gallagher had a lawyer.
