DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - Dubuque police say they suspect murder-suicide in the deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found in a home.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1GPb9IH ) that the bodies of 27-year-old Andrew Birch and 20-year-old Miranda Hogan were found in the home they shared late Friday afternoon.

Autopsies have been ordered.

Dubuque police were called to the home by a relative who went there to check on the couple and found the pair dead.

Police Lt. Scott Baxter says investigators have recovered a gun from the home but says police are not ready to speculate publicly on who the shooter was.

Baxter says investigators believe Birch was laid off from his job earlier Friday.
