VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - An attorney says Warren County could have a tough time collecting more than $800,000 from a former circuit clerk who is now in prison for an embezzlement conviction.

The Vicksburg Post reports (https://bit.ly/1I5Eh1x ) that Marcie Southerland, who represents the Board of Supervisors, says the county hopes to collect at least half of the money that a judge ordered Shelly Ashley Palmertree to pay.

Palmertree is serving a five-year sentence at a women’s prison in Rankin County. She has not made any public statements about what she did with the $800,000 she was convicted of embezzling.

Southerland says Warren County officials found no assets they could seize. Palmertree left office in office in May 2014 after investigators found she was living outside Warren County.
