FISHERS, Ind. (AP) - Mourners are gathering for the funeral of a slain Indiana University student just over a week after her body was found in a rural area.

Visitation for 22-year-old Hannah Wilson was scheduled for late Saturday afternoon, followed by her funeral at Fishers High School, just north of Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Star reports (https://indy.st/1Qar9cC ) the school district says Saturday’s calling and funeral would “recognize Hannah’s life and jubilant spirit.”

Wilson was a cheerleader for Hamilton Southeastern High School and was a senior majoring in psychology at IU. She was set to graduate this month.

Wilson was found beaten to death April 24 near Lake Lemon in Brown County, about 10 miles northwest of IU’s Bloomington campus.

Prosecutors have charged 49-year-old Daniel Messel of Bloomington with murder in her slaying.
