PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man identified by police as a pimp has been sentenced to 22 to 44 years in the death and dismemberment of a longtime customer investigators said he tried to rob.

The Philadelphia Daily News (https://bit.ly/1EGYkzB ) reports that 35-year-old Keith Tolbert was sentenced Friday in Common Pleas court. He pleaded guilty in April to third-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and conspiracy to commit robbery in the 2013 death of 40-year-old Frank Zarzycki.

Police say Zarzycki arrived at a Philadelphia apartment to have sex with two prostitutes when Tolbert, a nursing student working as a pimp, tried to rob him. Zarzycki fought back and was killed during the ensuing struggle.

Authorities say Tolbert used a hatchet to dismember the body. The victim’s torso was found in the Schuylkill River.
