GORHAM, N.H. (AP) - The road to the summit of the Northeast’s highest peak is partially open again.

The first 4.5 miles of the 7.6 mile Mount Washington Auto Road re-opens on Saturday. Up to 20 feet of snow remains on higher portions of the road to the 6,288-foot summit, and the full road isn’t expected to be cleared until the end of May.

The auto road will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to start, and vehicles cannot be left unattended.
