TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the discovery of a body at Tempe Beach Park.

Tempe police said Saturday that they arrested 32-year-old Bruce Paya for one count of second-degree murder.

Investigators had closed a portion of the park after the body was found around noon Friday.

Lt. Michael Pooley says Paya was located nearby and he was cooperative when taken into custody.

Police are not identifying the victim but that both he and the suspect were homeless.

Pooley says the two men had met earlier in the week and got into some kind of physical altercation Friday.
