PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Lost pet flyers are a common site in Providence, but not like those that have popped up recently seeking help in finding a missing unicorn.
New York artist Camomile Hixon is responsible for the flyers, which are part of an interactive exhibit “Unicorns in Residence. It also includes the installation of life-sized unicorns at spots such as the Providence Public Library.
Hixon tells the Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/1duy5DS ) the idea is to inspire creativity and whimsy.
The project began in New York five years ago, and has moved to other cities.
The flyers urge people to call a hotline to report sightings. Photos also are posted on a website, missingunicorn.com.
A special glitter-covered phone booth has been set up on Wickenden Street with a direct link to the hotline.
