FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A coroner says it has not yet determined the identity of a black woman found in a barrel in the backyard of an abandoned home in Fort Wayne.

The Journal Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1I846xU ) the Allen County Coroner’s Office conducted the autopsy Sunday. The cause and manner of death are still pending.

Police spokesman Mike Joyner says the body was found Saturday when a man’s son went to a nearby house to get an extra trash container from an abandoned property for some yard waste and discovered the dead body inside. Police said the body had been inside the barrel long enough to have been somewhat decomposed.

Joyner said the home where the trash can was located has been boarded up for several months.
