GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Hall County has graduated a record number of female firefighters from its training program.

The Times of Gainesville (https://bit.ly/1EItVka ) reports five women passed the fire services training program, the largest number ever.

Training Lt. Angie Davis said the landmark moment is about “acceptance.” She helped oversee instruction for the recruits who graduated April 17.

This graduating class had five women and 20 men. Davis said previous classes had no more than two women.

All the recruits trained in fire suppression, basic and advanced emergency medical care, technical rescue and hazardous materials.
