AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say an Augusta man who was working on his car along a road has been struck and killed by a passing vehicle.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1JJVG07) that 24-year-old Stephen Rikki Brinson was working on his car along Tobacco Road early Sunday morning when he was struck by the vehicle. Coroner Mark Bowen said Brinson died instantly at the scene.

Authorities say the vehicle then left the scene but was later located a short distance away.

An autopsy was planned at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab. Few other details were immediately available.
