WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) - Trial opens Monday for a western Pennsylvania man charged in the stabbing death of his estranged girlfriend more than three years ago.

Twenty-six-year-old Jordan Clemons of Pittsburgh is charged in Washington County in the death of 21-year-old Karissa Kunco. Her body was found in a wooded area of Mount Pleasant Township in January 2012

The (Washington) Observer-Reporter (https://bit.ly/1FIx1H9 ) reports that defense attorney Brian Gorman has declined to say whether Clemons will take the stand in his own defense.

Gorman has suggested in the past that his client had diminished mental capacity due to head injuries sustained while playing football and during several vehicle accidents as well as years of drug use.

Prosecutors have said they plan to seek the death penalty if Clemons is convicted of first-degree murder.
