LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Wynne woman is charged with human trafficking stemming from allegations that she forced two teenagers into prostitution and was being held Tuesday on $250,000 bond.

Jonesboro police say charges were lodged against 28-year-old Amber Nicole Johnson in Craighead County District Court. Johnson was arrested by Arkansas State Troopers in Little Rock last week at a motel where troopers announced Monday they had rescued a 15-year-old girl. State Police listed the woman’s hometown as North Little Rock.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by a Jonesboro police detective, a 14-year-old girl told a social worker at Arkansas Children’s Hospital that she had been forced into prostitution. The victim said she had run away from foster care with a 17-year-old relative, who told investigators she had been forced into prostitution as well.

“The victim reported she was having sexual intercourse with (4) four to (6) six men each day, and was told that Amber Johnson’s (accused party’s) children would not be able to eat if she stopped prostituting,” according to the affidavit.

State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said two children, ages 2 and 3, were found at the Little Rock motel room with the teenager last week, but he did not disclose their relationship to Johnson or the victim.

Sadler and Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Givens said the FBI has launched a criminal investigation into human trafficking related to the arrest.

Johnson was being held on charges of human trafficking, probation violations and unrelated misdemeanor charges. Jail records listed no lawyer for Johnson to comment on the charges.

The trafficking charge, because it involves a minor, carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison.
