PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Prescott man is in custody after he reportedly threw a rock at another man’s head, causing a serious injury.

Prescott police responded to Granite Creek Park on Monday afternoon after reports of a possible fight in progress.

They found a 60-year-old man with a serious head wound sitting on a bench.

Police say the victim and a friend had entered the park and had a brief verbal exchange with 49-year-old Shayne Cook.

A short time later, Cook approached the two men as they were sitting on a bench and allegedly threw a rock at one man’s head.

The victim was flown to a Phoenix-area hospital for treatment.

Police say Cook has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, assault and criminal damage.
