CARY, N.C. (AP) - Officials say a 9-year-old boy riding his bicycle with his father and three friends has died after being hit by an SUV in Cary.

WTVD-TV (https://abc11.tv/1E7iC2F ) reports the boy was hit Tuesday evening by a vehicle in the Chatham Estates Mobile Park. The child, his father and three friends were crossing the street when the child was struck by a black Mazda Crossover making a turn.

Police say the boy was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh where he died.

The boy’s father and the other children weren’t injured. Police have not said whether charges are pending against the driver or if speed was a factor.

The name of the boy hasn’t been released.
