CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Rep. Alma Adams is marking National Small Business Week by hosting a symposium in Charlotte designed to link constituents with owners and resources.

The symposium is scheduled for Wednesday at the Harris Center at Central Piedmont Community College at 8:30 a.m.

In addition to connecting constituents and current small business owners with local small business resources, there will be panels as well as networking with local and national small business organizations.

After the symposium, Adams will tour Anointed Flooring, a minority-owned small business in Charlotte. Adams will also meet with the business owner.

National Small Business Week dates back to 1963 and President John Kennedy. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are more than 800,000 small businesses in North Carolina that employ more than 1.5 million people.
