CYPRESS, Calif. (AP) - Hundreds have been displaced after a fire destroyed an apartment complex in Southern California.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1dMlvzq ) that firefighters were called to Cypress Park Apartments in Cypress for a two alarm fire Tuesday.

The blaze started near two parked cars and spread to buildings above. Five cars were destroyed and three others were damaged, which an Orange County Fire Authority spokesman said caused around $150,000 in damages. Five units were damaged by the fire, resulting in $700,000 of damage.

The building’s power had to be shut off and residents in all of the 44 units were displaced, somewhere between 175 and 200 people.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
