BUENA VISTA, Va. (AP) - A body has been recovered from the Maury River, two miles downstream from where a man was reported missing.

The Roanoke Times (https://bit.ly/1dMOEL3 ) reports crews found the body in Buena Vista Tuesday. The Rockbridge County emergency management coordinator says crews had been searching nearby for a 52-year-old man who went missing nearly a month ago in the area.

Authorities say people floating in tubes down the river noticed the body and called police.

A dive team had been searching downstream and body-sniffing dogs were searching along the banks of the river. The unidentified missing man disappeared while trying to wade to an island in the river.

The body has not been identified. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
