PANA, Ill. (AP) - A series of public meetings are scheduled in central Illinois towns and cities about building a proposed electricity transmission line through the region.

Clean Line Energy Partners wants to build the Grain Belt Express, which would bring wind farm energy from Kansas to an existing grid in Indiana. The (Decatur) Herald and Review reports (https://bit.ly/1P0mn4k ) that public meetings about the line will be held over the next week in Greenup, Nokomis, Pana, Strasburg and in other central Illinois towns.

The Texas company has filed a request to build the transmission line in Illinois. It will stretch 780 miles through Pike, Scott, Greene, Macoupin, Montgomery, Christian, Shelby, Cumberland and Clark counties.

The Illinois Commerce Commission is expected to make a decision by November.
