COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a Columbus tax preparer has pleaded guilty to filing more than 180 fraudulent tax returns.

Authorities say 36-year-old Danielle Wallace pleaded guilty Tuesday to wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and filing false income tax returns.

Prosecutors say Wallace filed the fraudulent returns between January and March 2014. Authorities say Wallace worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and took calls from customers. Prosecutors say she took customers’ personal information over the phone and used it to file the fraudulent returns through a business she owned.

Officials say Wallace stole about $494,000 in the scheme.
