RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - An inmate’s widow has filed a $10 million wrongful death lawsuit against Henrico County Sheriff Michael Wade and several other defendants.

Latrice Harrison’s lawsuit alleges that Wade and other Henrico County jail officials covered up details surrounding Willie Wingfield Scott’s death at the facility on May 3, 2014. An autopsy found that Scott died from a drug overdose.

Wade denies the allegations. He tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1IfzusN ) that security cameras filmed most of the events before and after Scott’s death.

The lawsuit says a food service worker and unnamed others brought a narcotic into the jail. Henrico police say their investigation of the incident couldn’t determine who supplied the drug to Scott.

The lawsuit was filed in Richmond Circuit Court. Other defendants include several John Does and unnamed deputies.
