LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A Lincoln man convicted of several felony charges for attempting to run over his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend with a car has been sentenced to prison.

A Lancaster County judge sentenced 35-year-old Emmanuel Yanga to up to 12 years in prison, giving him credit for 225 days already served. He was found guilty in March of two counts of second-degree assault, a weapons charge, criminal mischief and third-degree assault.

Prosecutors allege Yanga followed the couple in his car to the woman’s apartment, where he tried to run them down.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1Re0TQd ) he hit four other cars in his attempt, causing nearly $6,000 in damage to the vehicles and his own, and then got out of the car to attack the man.
