LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A 29-year-old woman has been seriously injured after her recently adopted dog bit her at her northeast Lincoln home.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1EhtfyY ) the woman was taken to a local hospital early Wednesday afternoon with a dog bite in the arm. Animal Control officers arrived to remove the dog from the home.

The woman’s name hasn’t been released. The Lincoln Police Department says her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

Sgt. Todd Beam says the woman and her family got the dog about a week ago from a shelter outside of Lincoln.
