BANGOR, Maine (AP) - A Maine man convicted of using a fake Facebook profile to lure a 15-year-old girl to her death is set to be sentenced later this week.

A jury convicted 22-year-old Kyle Dube of the March 2013 kidnapping and murder of Nichole Cable. Police say Dube staged Nichole’s kidnapping as part of a botched plot in which he planned to later rescue her and look like a hero. Nichole died of asphyxiation and was found after an eight-day search.

Dube is set for sentencing at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at Penobscot County Superior Courthouse in Bangor. Dube faces 25 years to life in prison for the murder conviction and up to 30 years for the kidnapping conviction. DNA evidence tied Dube to Nichole’s disappearance.
