NEWTON, N.C. (AP) - The Catawba County District Attorney says a Virginia man convicted of multiple sex crimes against two young girls has been sentenced to at least 50 years in prison.

The Herald-Courier (https://bit.ly/1Qlnb0Y) reports 40-year-old Linzie Swink was found guilty Monday of two counts of rape of a child and indecent liberties with a child in Vale. District Attorney David Learner says Swink was sentenced to 51 to 62 years in prison.

Authorities say Swink sexually abused a 9-year-old girl between October 2009 and May 2010. He was also accused of indecent liberties with a different female child from another family. One victim testified he had intercourse with her and the other said he touched her inappropriately.

Swink’s trial was the first bench trail in Catawba County.
