GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) - The Montgomery County police department plans to hold a memorial service to pay tribute to fallen officers.

The memorial is being held Wednesday at the Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters in Gaithersburg.

The names of 17 Montgomery County officers who have died in the line of duty or as a result of line-of-duty injuries will be read.

The names include William D. Talbert, who died in 2012 and is the most recent name added to the list. Talbert died as a result of medical complications he suffered after being injured by a drunk driver in 1983. The first name on the list is that of Patrolman Joseph Case, who died in 1928 after crashing his motorcycle into the rear of a stopped car.
