SANFORD, N.C. (AP) - Officials say a North Carolina seventh-grader has died after suffering a medical emergency during a soccer match.

WTVD-TV (https://abc11.tv/1KdmiDz ) reported Tuesday 12-year-old Quaneisha Richmond was playing a game at East Lee Middle School in Sanford April 30 when she appeared to suffer from a seizure. She was rushed to Central Carolina Hospital where she died that evening.

Funeral services are set of for Saturday.

The medical examiner is investigating the cause of Richmond’s death. East Lee Middle school officials say counselors were provided to student’s following Richmond’s death.
