PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix elementary school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old student has pleaded not guilty.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 27-year-old Kenne Michael Worthen entered his plea Wednesday.

He was arrested last month on suspicion of luring a minor, sexual conduct with a minor and child molestation.

Worthen teaches sixth grade at Longview Elementary School.

Longview officials say Worthen has been put on administrative leave and won’t be returning to the school.

Authorities say students reported the relationship to a teacher who immediately notified school officials and Phoenix police.

Police say Worthen was arrested after authorities saw text messages between him and the girl that allegedly contained graphic sexual language.

They say the girl told investigators she and Worthen had sexual contact April at Longview after school.
