BASILE, La. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies say a 32-year-old man died after crashing a crop-duster plane into a tree in rural Acadia Parish.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Maxine Trahan told The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1Ig2F0l) the crash happened around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday off U.S. Highway 190 south of Basile (bah-ZEEL’).

Trahan says the unidentified pilot crashed on private property about 300-400 feet from the field he was fertilizing after he clipped a few trees and crashed into a tree.

She says the pilot died at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
