OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An Oklahoma City police officer has been released from the hospital after authorities say he was severely beaten in the head by a suspect who stole his baton.

The department said Wednesday that recruit Adam Eller is expected to make a full recovery. The officer was released from the hospital late Tuesday.

Police say the 26-year-old burglary suspect took Eller’s metal baton and hit the officer in the head with it after a foot chase. He was arrested on complaints including assault on an officer.

Eller confronted the suspect and the suspect’s twin brother after responding to a report of a home burglary. The suspect’s brother was also arrested on complaints including burglary.
