BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a bullet that struck a pregnant woman in Bakersfield also critically wounded her baby.

Kern County sheriff’s investigators tell KBAK-TV (https://tinyurl.com/pvxja4l) that 33-year-old Adrianna Bravo was shot in the hip and her husband, 34-year-old Mario Bravo Jr., was shot several times Tuesday afternoon.

The woman, who was 8 ½ months pregnant, gave birth and is hospitalized in fair condition. Her newborn son was taken to a children’s hospital and is listed as critical.

The woman’s husband is in fair condition.

Authorities say three men confronted the couple in their front yard and one opened fire. The trio then drove away.

There’s no word on whether the shooting was gang-related.
