WRIGHT CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Missouri’s Warren County are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a train.

Sheriff Kevin Harrison says that a train conductor reported spotting the man’s remains before sunrise Wednesday near Wright City.

Harrison says two trains traveled through that stretch overnight, though it wasn’t immediately clear which one may have hit the man.

The sheriff says the man’s body was found in a rural area of the railroad line, and there were no witnesses.

The man’s name was not immediately released.
