HOUMA, La. (AP) - State police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a bicyclist along Louisiana Highway 57 south of Houma.

Trooper Evan Harrell says 56-year-old Robert Clowder Jr., of Houma, was riding his bike north in the highway’s southbound shoulder when a vehicle struck Clowder head-on, throwing him into a ditch.

Harrell said police were uncertain what time the incident occurred but have discovered physical evidence of the vehicle.

Officers discovered Clowder’s body about noon Tuesday

Harrell says Clowder was last seen leaving his house Monday night.
