LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles County authorities say a man already behind bars is suspected of killing an elderly couple at their multimillion-dollar home near La Verne last year.

City News Service says the Sheriff’s Department announced Wednesday that DNA links Luke Fabela to the killings of 74-year-old Shirley Isom and 89-year-old Armie Isom.

A groundskeeper found the couple at the home on Dec. 26. The woman was beaten to death and her husband, a wealthy businessman, was beaten and stabbed. He died at a hospital.

Authorities say the 23-year-old Fabela has been serving jail time in San Bernardino for car theft since mid-January.

He hasn’t been charged with the killings yet and sheriff’s investigators haven’t determined a motive for the attack.
