FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) - Grant Town has been coming up with creative ways to raise money for town improvements.

The Times West Virginian (https://bit.ly/1GOD5tI ) reports during the town’s council meeting Monday, members approved holding a horseshoe tournament to raise funds for the park on Main Street.

Mayor Brad Shahan says the park is in need of repairs, which include fixing the fence and repairing the bathrooms.

A hot dog sale will also be held the same day as the tournament.

In addition, the town is holding a gun raffle for a semi-automatic pistol or a $400 cash prize.

Shahan said money from the raffle will go toward town improvements.

Participants in the gun raffle must be at least 21 years old to win the pistol, or at least 18 years old to win the cash prize.
