MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The deadline is approaching for Alabamians to file claims for compensation for damages linked to the 2010 gulf oil spill.

Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange said in a statement that June 8 is the deadline for claims to be filed.

Strange says people with questions on their eligibility may read more about the requirements online or call 1-886-992-6174.

Strange says his office also investigates and prosecutors fraudulent claims.
