STAFFORD, Va. (AP) - A Greyhound bus caught fire while on Interstate 95 near Stafford, sending one person who was in the baggage department to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Virginia State Police say the bus pulled over after Thursday the driver started to see and smell smoke coming into the cabin of the bus. All 28 passengers were able to exit the bus. Public safety officials discovered the fire was coming from the baggage compartment, which is below the passenger compartment.

Police say the found a man inside the luggage department, who was flown to INOVA Fairfax Hospital.

State police are investigating the incident, including how someone got into the luggage compartment.
