PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A Jefferson High School Student who was 15 when he was accused of sexual assault is scheduled to be sentenced to three years in prison next month.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1JSHodD ) that Deandre Alexander Kilduff, who is now 17, pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree sodomy and attempted first-degree sexual abuse. The plea was part of a deal to avoid a minimum 8-year sentence if convicted for first-degree sodomy, the most serious charge against him.

The student is accused of sexually violating a girl in a school hallway in 2013.

The girl was too afraid to speak to the judge Wednesday, but her mom spoke for her. She said her daughter is withdrawn and suffers from social anxiety disorder since the attack.

Kilduff will serve his prison term in a juvenile detention facility.
