PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Portland police say a man was critically injured Thursday morning after jumping from the 6th floor of a downtown parking garage.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says officers were alerted that the 28-year-old man was getting ready to jump, and tried to establish contact with him without success.

Simpson says the man hit some trees before hitting the street. He was taken to a Portland hospital.
