BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - Butte-Silver Bow law enforcement officers and others are concerned that methamphetamine being sold in the Butte area may be tainted with a hallucinogen, causing dangerous reactions and criminal behavior.

Sheriff Ed Lester says police responded to four incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday in which individuals exhibited extreme paranoia and sometimes hallucinations. A Butte officer suffered a back injury during one altercation.

On Tuesday, a man locked himself into bathrooms at two different convenience stores, claiming gang members were trying to kill him. On Wednesday, a 27-year-old man broke into a house, saying people were after him.

A spokeswoman for St. James Healthcare told The Montana Standard (https://bit.ly/1FRT0LL ) that the emergency room has seen more drug-related incidents than normal over the past two weeks.
