NEW YORK (AP) - An off-duty NYPD officer has died after his motorcycle struck a sport utility vehicle in Brooklyn.

Authorities say it happened Monday while 35-year-old Royston Ferguson was riding his 2008 Ducati on Rockaway Parkway.

Ferguson struck the side of a 2015 Kia Sedona as it was trying to make a U-turn. Ferguson was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at Brookdale University Hospital.

The SUV’s 28-year-old driver was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

No charges have been filed against the driver.
