NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Board of Regents approved the design development phase plans for a strength training and performance center addition project at the Lloyd Noble Center at Thursday’s meeting.

The regents also approved replacement for the playing surfaces at the baseball and softball fields.

Funds already are available for the projects.

An approximately 18,400-gross-square-foot addition will house improved strength training facilities for basketball and other programs. It will be constructed south of the existing two practice court gymnasiums used by the men’s and women’s basketball programs. The estimated total cost is $7 million.

Replacement of the surfaces at L. Dale Mitchell Park (baseball) and Marita Hynes Field (softball) are to cost a maximum of $2.565 million. Construction is to begin in June and be completed in the fall.
