MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Operators of a number of small farms in Vermont are visiting the Statehouse to talk to lawmakers about bills and other issues affecting them.

The farmers and citizen advocates will hold a press conference in the Cedar Creek Room at 11:15 a.m.

They plan to talk to legislators about what they say is appropriate regulation and about small farms’ contribution to building a sustainable food system in Vermont.

The event is being organized by Rural Vermont and the Vermont Chapter of the Young Farmers Coalition to highlight the importance of the state’s agricultural economy and rural heritage.
