WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A 20-year-old New Britain man has been charged with sexually assaulting a West Hartford teen he met through Craigslist.

Authorities say Steven Turner exchanged text messages with the 15-year-old girl before going to her home, where sexual contact took place.

Police say the New Britain resident then blackmailed the victim into handing over cash and jewelry, threatening to post pictures of her online. Turner was arrested May 1 when went to meet the victim and collect more money.

He was charged with risk of injury to a minor, impairing the morals of children, second-degree sexual assault and first-degree larceny by extortion.

Turner posted $20,000 and is due in court May 14. He does not have a listed phone number and could not be reached for comment Thursday.
