PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A handcuffed armed robbery suspect is on the run after he jumped out of a car and escaped from custody in west Philadelphia.

Authorities say the 16-year-old boy was being transported to a police station when he fled Wednesday.

The teen was wanted in three February armed robberies when investigators caught up with him in Florida. Authorities say private contractors hired to take the boy back to the city were driving to a police station when their Kia sedan came to an intersection. That’s when the teen jumped out and fled.

Police say he dashed into an alley and hasn’t been seen since. They say he could be returning to his home in the area.

Authorities are warning that anyone harboring or aiding the boy could face charges.
