DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A poultry producer is making plans to add at least 500 jobs to its Dothan plant.

The Dothan Eagle (https://bit.ly/1zO01fG ) reports Wayne Farms announced Wednesday morning its Dothan operation will also be expanded, adding 42,000 square feet to its existing structure.

A news release from the company’s headquarters in Oakwood, Georgia says the project should be finished by the middle of 2016.

The current plant is a 105,000-square-foot facility and employs 356 people in the surrounding area in its slaughter and cut-up line. In April 2014, Wayne Farms discontinued its poultry deboning line in Dothan, taking away 560 jobs.

Wayne Farms declined comment for additional details.
