LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) - Police say three pet Chihuahuas were shot and killed at a home in Lancaster.

The Rock Hill Herald (https://bit.ly/1cdhyTm) reports officers went to a home on Wednesday night after a neighbor told the dogs’ owner they had been shot in the backyard during the day while the homeowners were away.

Investigators say neighbors didn’t hear anything suspicious and didn’t hear shots fired.

The dogs’ owner told police she last saw the dogs Tuesday night and heard them barking Wednesday morning.

The Lancaster Police Department is searching for who may have killed the animals.
