BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - Students seeking to get a Louisiana paramedic license will have access to an accredited program in Bossier City.

The Shreveport Times reports (https://bit.ly/1AKJZ15 ) Bossier Parish Community College will partner with DeSoto Parish EMS and Natchitoches Parish EMS to offer paramedic education to current and potential employees.

In 2013, the National Registry of EMTs ruled candidates for paramedic certification must graduate from an accredited paramedic education program.

Since the community college has the only accredited paramedic program in north Louisiana, Chancellor Rick Bateman says the partnership will allow many EMS professionals who do not live close to the campus access to the classes they need to graduate. The program starts in January.
