ATLANTA (AP) - A former human resources director for the Georgia Department of Public Health has pleaded guilty to falsifying her job application.

A statement released by the Georgia Department of Law says Donna Alexander pleaded guilty Thursday to seven counts of false statement and writings in Fulton County.

Alexander was hired in October 2012. She claimed she had earned bachelor’s, master’s and law degrees from Florida International University; held three prior positions as a human resources director; and was a senior professional in human resources.

An internal investigation revealed none of those claims was true. Alexander was terminated in December 2012.

Attorney General Sam Olen says this case sends a strong message that fraud will not be tolerated by state employees. Alexander was sentenced to 2 ½ years of probation and a $1,000 fine.
